The New Kid In Town
Hi, I’m RD, and I have all the advice you’re ever going to need about being the new kid in town. I am the new kid in town right now. I moved the Mrs. and the son here, for a little peace of mind. The Mrs. insisted on it. Besides, I’ve pretty much gone as far as I can, back at the old place. It doesn’t seem like anyone is listening to me anymore. I guess they figure I’ve taught them all I can. I never got a chance to tell them just how much they still don’t know. Anyway, over the next little while, I’ll try to share my vast wisdom with you instead.
I thought I would share a quick bit of wisdom, being the new kid on the block. For the first three days after moving here, I noticed that the neighbor would go out and shoot a basketball, but he would almost always over shoot the first shot. Every time he missed the first shot, he would kick the ball down the street. Then he would cuss, and then chase the ball. I realized the man needed help. I knew what I could do to help. So the next morning, I waited to see what the man would do with the help I had given him.
It worked better than I could imagine. He bent and tried to pick the ball up, but almost fell when he tried. He got up and kicked that cement filled ball, which barely rolled a foot. He fell to the grass, pounding his fist, and then hopped into the house again. I’ve never seen him kick the ball again.
So take my advice, when you see people kicking their basketball by accident, and then have to chase it. Just fill the ball with concrete, and they won’t have to chase it very far after they kick it. You’ll be helping to save them all kinds of time. I believe in helping where ever I can.
